Rob Hunter, CEO of Igne, has officially opened the company's state-of-the-art new laboratory in Bellshill, Scotland. It is now the largest construction materials testing lab in Scotland and is said to set a new standard for quality and innovation in the testing, inspection, and compliance industry.

The Bellshill laboratory, which replaces Igne's former location in Airdrie, marks the first phase of a comprehensive strategic expansion plan. The next step will be the opening of a fully equipped laboratory in Daventry, scheduled for early 2025.

Under the leadership of Peter Godfrey, managing director of Testing, this expansion underscores Igne's commitment to providing exceptional service and advanced testing solutions across the UK.
David McGiff, Igne's newly appointed operations director for the North, will oversee operations at Bellshill, as well as the company's labs in Aberdeen, Newcastle, Warrington, and Barnsley.
The Bellshill lab is already operational and has recently earned additional accreditations for concrete compliance and thermal resistivity. The team is focused on expanding services and creating new opportunities to bring fresh talent into the organisation.
The Bellshill facility stands out for its exceptional service quality and its investment in state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Igne is the first company in the world to implement SpectraQEST LIMS for concrete testing, a groundbreaking digital innovation that highlights the company's dedication to precision and excellence for its clients.
Additionally, the facility is equipped with two mobile laboratories, ready for quick deployment to projects across the UK. In 2025, it will also expand its services to include bitumen and asphalt testing.
The Bellshill laboratory marks the first step in Igne's ambitious growth strategy. The next phase will launch in the first quarter of 2025 with the opening of a new laboratory in Daventry, England. Following the successful launch of the Daventry hub in 2024, Igne's rapid growth and expanding client base have created a clear need for further expansion, showcasing the company's increasing reach and capabilities.
Darren Berrill will take on the role of operations director for the South, overseeing operations at both Daventry and Aston Clinton. He will play a key role in driving this exciting new chapter for the business.
Clients are invited to explore the new facility in Bellshill through "Lunch and Learn" sessions, that can be booked online, where they can meet the team, tour the lab, and discover the breadth of testing capabilities. A custom training facility is also available, with Jane Simpson, field testing training manager, joining in the new year to enhance client knowledge and support project success.
