Construction projects in downtown New York suburb of Manhattan require not only precision and efficiency but also low noise levels to minimise the disturbance to people's daily lives.

At two housing construction projects in New York City, XCMG Foundation's star model - the XR180DV rotary drilling rig - has been praised by customers for its high working efficiency, product quality and low noise levels, all while meeting local regulations. This intelligent model that XCMG Foundation developed for the high-end markets in North America and Europe, with an imported Volvo engine meets the strict Stage 4 (EU) and EPA T4F (US) emission standards.

Since XCMG's rotary drilling rigs entered the North American markets in 2016, the company has been adapting its product design with more than 20 changes over the course of product development, including a dual measurement unit and various compatible parts to meet the demands from local markets.

XCMG Foundation is currently selling a range of 11 products in North America, including four models in US and Canada and seven in Mexico, its partners include Ougan Group which operates mainly in Canada and US, and ALFO, the dealer in Mexico.

"The main competitive strength of our products is that we can customise cost-effective products and complete set solutions according to the customers' needs, our products have been competing with those from the best brands in the world and they are exceeding expectations in functionality, quality and cost-effectiveness," said Zhang Zhonghai, deputy general manager of XCMG Foundation.

Multinational

XCMG has been developing and manufacturing rotary drilling rig products for 20 years and has held the highest market share in China for six years in a row. It is a multinational heavy machinery manufacturing company with a 76-year history and currently ranks sixth in the world's construction machinery industry. The company exports to more than 183 countries and regions around the world.

The company's confidence comes from the continuous improvement and breakthroughs achieved in all aspects of product development - intelligent control, energy conservation technology and reliability, and the key is to explore and innovate based on the customers' specific needs.

In August 2019, XCMG Foundation was founded as a subsidiary of XCMG to specialise in the development and manufacturing of piling machinery, non-excavation machinery, coal-mine tunnel machinery, energy resource exploitation machinery, mountain tunnel equipment and railway equipment.

Complete line-up

XCMG Foundation has a complete line-up that includes rotary drilling rigs, a trench cutter, a diaphragm wall grab, a multi-function drill rig and more. Its rotary drilling rigs can achieve multiple construction approaches by installing different accessories such as casing oscillator, double-power head, CFA and DTH.

XCMG Foundation now holds nearly 200 authorised patents in piling machinery, more than 10 of its products have won provisional awards in Jiangsu Province and they have been authorised in the US, Australia, Turkey, South Africa and other countries. Its product range is exported to more than 70 countries and regions and have been receiving rave reviews from customers

XCMG Foundation's intelligent manufacturing workshop for rotary drilling rigs has established multiple automatic IM production lines for key components and has launched the largest tonnage rotary drilling rig in the world.

U series rigs

The latest development from XCMG Foundation is the U series rotary drilling rig products, which has just launched in the American market, making its debut at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020 in Las Vegas.

The XRU313 rotary drilling rig from the U series can meet different requirements of various construction projects. The 36t rotary drilling rig is equipped with a 160KW engine that meets the Tier 4 emission requirements in North America and has a maximum drilling diameter of 1.7m and depth of 36m. The modular design allows the model to be switched between the two working heights of 8m and 16m conveniently and the high-speed soil dumping function can reach 120r/min.

The XZ4055 horizontal directional drill, on the other hand, highlights automation and environmental friendliness. Equipped with an engine that meets the Stage V emission standards in North America, the drill has an all-electric, a silent fan that adjusts heat loss dynamically and lowers the noise level, as well as safety features such as electric shock alarm control, vehicle side lock when it is back on ground level and advanced fault diagnosis.

"As construction machinery manufacturers around the world seek to succeed in the international market, XCMG Foundation is stepping up to integrate global resources, particularly the overseas sales network and service and spare parts systems, our strategy is to promote professional sales channels, localised service and spare parts support, customised product development and diverse sales model, while staying to the ‘Advanced and Endurable' gold standard," Zhang said.
