A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed demonstrating a commitment to fostering shared value. It formalises the intention of Arup and WaterAid to seek opportunities together that leverage their complementary strengths.
This new type of partnership demonstrates how Arup can work with its partners to move beyond traditional, transactional relationships to co-create greater sustainable impact. This further aligns with UN SDG Goal 17 on partnerships.
"We are excited to deepen our partnership with WaterAid Australia so that we can deliver shared value through a more integrated, and collaborative engagement. This builds on Arup's commitment to the UN SDGs, particularly Goal 6 on Water," said Daniel Lambert Australasia water leader.
Lambert's sentiments were echoed by Rosie Wheen, WaterAid Australia chief executive, who said: "We are thrilled to further our partnership with Arup so together we can make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everyone within a generation. We are resolutely focused on tackling these three essentials that transform people's lives. Without all three, people can't live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty, and change their lives for good."
Arup and WaterAid Australia plan to develop water, sanitation and hygiene programs that build resilience and water security across South East Asia and the Pacific. They will also continue working together to strengthen water, sanitation and hygiene skills as well as influence private, development and public sectors on water security across the region.
Arup has partnered with WaterAid globally for almost 15 years across multiple areas of our business including water, international development and community engagement.
