At the show: Comacchio's display will focus on the water well and geothermal drilling rigs in its range.
All Comacchio rigs are designed as multipurpose units that can be used for the installation of piezometers/monitoring wells, construction of wells for public, agriculture, commercial, industrial and domestic water supply, installation of geothermal probes, along with well repairs and deepening. Thanks to their flexible design, Comacchio machines can adapt to the most used drilling techniques, depending on borehole diameter, required drilling depth and soil conditions on-site. This includes rotary drilling, reverse circulation drilling, DTH drilling and double-head applications.
To improve safety and productivity, Comacchio has focused on the development of automated rod handling systems.
During Groundwater Week, Comacchio will exhibit the flagship of its geothermal line, the GEO 909 GT. Ranging between 20 and 23t in weight and equipped with a new 180kW Stage V engine, the GEO 909 GT can work in any ground conditions and drill up to 300m deep. Perfect for tight urban spaces, the GEO 909GT's compact footprint allows users to drill in areas where other rigs cannot.
The standard features of the GEO 909 GT include the Comacchio double-head system, designed for simultaneous drilling and casing. This system stabilises the borehole, preserves groundwater resources, and allows safer and faster drilling, keeping the jobsite clean thanks to the rig's internal diverter.
The double-head system is designed to work in combination with the onboard rods and casing carousel, which eliminates the manual handling of the drilling equipment required to install heat loops.
The high-capacity carousel can hold a massive 126m of rods and casing. It has been recently upgraded to operate with 4m rods when performing open-hole-drilling, thus increasing the achievable depth and productivity. Thanks to the super-efficient, fully automated feed system, a single operator can easily and effectively handle the GEO 909 GT. Working time, plant movements and the presence of equipment/personnel on site can thus be reduced dramatically with multiple advantages in terms of safety, cost-effectiveness, and emissions.
