ConeTec launches first North American hybrid CPT rig

Hybrid power CPT rig - Jupiter - launched in North America by ConeTec

ConeTec has announced the debut of its hybrid cone penetration testing (CPT) track rig - Jupiter

ConeTec has announced the debut of its hybrid cone penetration testing (CPT) track rig - Jupiter

By incorporating batteries, the new rig reduces carbon emissions by up to 60% during normal operations and by up to 90% if able to access charging at night.

With its powerful 220kN push unit, the hybrid CPT rig combines performance and leading edge safety systems with environmental responsibility. Designed and fabricated by ConeTec's in-house technical development and manufacturing teams, this rig delivers a very quiet and ergonomic work environment.

The Jupiter rig offers the same services as its diesel-powered counterparts, including CPTu and seismic-CPTu testing, resistivity-CPTu, Ball (full flow) CPTu, electric vane shear testing, dilatometer testing (DMT/SDMT), pressuremeter testing (PMT), various disturbed and undisturbed sampling methods, as well as VWP and other direct-push instrumentation installation.

"These rigs represent the future of our fleet. Hybrid and full-electric CPT testing will become the standard at ConeTec. This new technology directly contributes to ConeTec becoming the least carbon-intensive site characterisation contractor worldwide," ConeTec CEO Jamie Sharp said.
