Drilltracker is cloud-based software that connects all aspects of a drilling business under one streamlined system. Designed by drillers, it is distributed worldwide, outside New Zealand and Australia, by Royal Eijkelkamp.

The administrative and health and safety/compliance side of a drilling business can be overwhelming and time-consuming. Paperwork and compliance requirements can be immense, and people, as well as assets, need to be kept well organised and scheduled. With Drilltracker, contractors, asset management, daily movement of rigs, site-specific requirements, daily site logs, health and safety documentation, operational procedures, borehole logging and photographing, quoting and invoicing can all be managed within the same, easy-to-use system.

Now the company is working on new features to enhance the system. ProDrill operations manager, Scott Sherwin, whose New Zealand-based company developed the Drilltracker software, talked about the innovations: "An Android app will soon be available. This extends the tool's reach for touchscreen mobile devices beyond the existing iOS or iPhone app. We'll also be working towards integrations with customer relationship management [CRM] systems, as well as the development of an automated client interface where clients drive the job spec, and in effect, create the quote themselves. Also, on the cards is a new staff leave management process and a fresh new look and feel for the whole product."

Drilltracker has its origins from the catastrophic Christchurch earthquakes in New Zealand where ProDrill became involved in what would become the biggest geotechnical investigation in the world. "We needed to get organised and efficient - fast. There was nothing on the market that would consolidate all our needs into one platform, so we decided to build the solution ourselves."

With Sherwin as the software developer working within the business on a daily basis, Drilltracker could be constantly refined and improved, resulting in a totally intuitive system, built specifically for drilling businesses that works hard for the user, so that the user can work smarter. "All ideas were developed by engaging a team of some of the best software programmers in the world, resulting in Drilltracker, a smart, efficient and secure world-class business management system," concluded Sherwin.
