Keltbray signs Climate Pledge committing to achieving net-zero carbon by 2040

Keltbray has signed The Climate Pledge, a commitment co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 or sooner.

Keltbray has committed to working toward net-zero carbon across its operations —which in aggregate has the potential to significantly reduce corporate carbon emissions.

Signatories to The Climate Pledge agree to:

  • Measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis.
  • Implement decarbonisation strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, materials reductions, and other carbon emission elimination strategies.
  • Neutralise any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially beneficial offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040—a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement's goal of 2050.

The urgency to address the issue of climate change is underscored by the latest report from the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which provides a thorough examination of the physical science of climate change. The report underscores the need for increased urgency in addressing the climate crisis and finds that unless there are immediate, rapid, and large-scale reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, limiting warming to close to 1.5 degrees Celsius or even two degrees Celsius will be out of reach.

Keltbray has committed to net-zero carbon by 2040 or sooner and is uniquely positioned to rise to the challenge of addressing climate change and helping to create the low-carbon economy of the future.

Keltbray unveiled its new core purpose earlier this year, "To redefine the way sustainable development is delivered", and this announcement further demonstrates the company's commitment to supporting the sector's drive towards reducing carbon emissions in the delivery and operation of the built environment.

Kiro Tamer, head of Environmental Sustainability at Keltbray commented: "Keltbray strives to make a positive contribution to the world we live and work in and we are delighted to become a signatory to The Climate Pledge. We have set ourselves the objective of achieving net-zero by 2040 for our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and will use a science-based target in order to monitor our progress. We will reduce our emissions by decarbonising our on-site plant and fleet and by collaborating with design engineers and our clients in order to also decarbonise our supply chain-related emissions."
