Casagrande UK to debut new rig at Geotechnica

Geotechnica will see the launch of the new C3 XP-2 drill rig in the UK by Casagrande

The C3 XP-2 is Casagrande's smallest multipurpose drilling rig, designed for constructing anchors, micropiles and jet-grouting. As with the larger Casagrande rigs, the Smart Power Management (SPM) and full load sensing (FLS) hydraulic system allow intelligent engine power management to improve the drilling performance of the rig and reduce fuel consumption.

The rig is equipped with a modular mast and double-jointed kinematic mast support making it small and simple enough to work in narrow spaces such as tunnels or inside buildings. The new C3XP-2 is compact, easy to transport and manoeuvre thanks to the ergonomically designed remote control console

SPM is an intelligent engine power management system that improves machine performances and productivity. The SPM system monitors power flows and allocates maximum available power to the required function.

Unlike regular hydraulic managing systems, the FLS hydraulic power system used on the C3 XP-2 pressurizes only the required amount of oil required due to the backaction between pumps and distributors. It allows management of the power demands and reduces power loss, achieving up to a 25 per cent fuel saving (calculated on the basis of a theoretical working cycle).
