The trench wall works for the service shaft started in December 2017. Among the equipment being used on the project, there are three Bauer BC 40 milling machines on MC 96 and MC 128 cable excavators and three complex desanders of the types BE 500 and BE 550 from Bauer MAT Slurry Handling Systems. The bentonite suspension is also enriched with a specially developed polymer-based additive to compensate for the porous soil.

In order to guarantee the specified vertical deviation from a maximum of 200mm to a depth of 120m, different measurement methods are combined that enable a unique 3D model of the diaphragm wall work with the aid of building information modelling. After completion of the diaphragm shafts by Bauer Technologies, the mining and production shaft will be sunk to a final depth of 1,500m by a mining company.
