Four architectural firms provide a different look and feel of the six building parts of the project. The ambition for the 190 apartments, 23 commercial spaces and three offices is high: an E-level of 30 (almost-energy-neutral - BEN) and a BREEAM outstanding certificate must be achieved.
Stabo has previously worked with CIP in 2004 for the Kop van Kessel-Lo, the last building of which was completed in 2017.
The various buildings will use geothermal energy storage through a borehole energy storage (BEO) field. To achieve this, 78 holes 150m deep will be drilled under the new building. A heat pump will use the stored energy for low-temperature space heating. Passive cooling directly via the BEO field will also provide pleasant comfort during the summer.
