The Bauer GB 80 S grab system is a combination of tried-and-tested GB series carriers and state-of-the-art DHG V grabs. Dieter Stetter, chairman of the management board of Bauer Maschinen, explained: "The new generation GB 80 S has been developed to master the increasingly complex working conditions on diaphragm wall construction sites. It is a completely new machine in a new performance class."
Bauer engineers worked closely with customers and partners during the development to maximise efficiency without adding complexity. The Bauer GB 80 S covers all possible applications of the DHG V grab and thus the entire spectrum of tasks that can be performed by a hydraulic grab. With it, trench widths of up to 1,800mm can be excavated to 80m depth. In addition, the hydraulic system and two single-layer winches have been optimised in order to reduce fuel consumption and wear.
In addition, Bauer introduced the BCS 40 cutter system - the first time the Bauer Maschinen Group has presented a diaphragm wall cutter at a Bauma in Shanghai.
The new machine, produced in China, is designed for cutting depths of up to 40m and, thanks to its compact design, is ideally suited to use in inner-city areas. The cutter system combines three of Bauer's long-established systems for the first time: the BC 32 trench cutter, the HSS 40 hose guide system and the MT 120 carrier.
