The new compact and high-performance rig, which was debuted during the recent GeoTherm trade fair and congress in Offenburg, Germany, is the latest addition to the Comacchio line of machines designed for geothermal drilling applications. This product line was created to offer innovative solutions aimed at boosting efficiency and productivity while at the same time making geothermal drilling operations cleaner and safer.

Born as a development of the MC 14, the new machine features the Comacchio-patented undercarriage. Combined with the mast kinematics articulation system, inspired by Comacchio's micropile drilling rigs, this allows the machine to operate in complete safety even in very limited space conditions and on sloping terrain, ensuring quick and precise positioning on the borehole

A standard feature of the MC 14 GT is a double-head drilling system, which allows for simultaneous drilling and the casing, thus speeding up production and preserving groundwater resources from contamination. To further minimise the environmental impact of the drilling process, the system is equipped with a preventer and diverter line for cuttings management.

The MC 14 GT is also equipped with lifting systems designed for the mechanised handling of the rods and casings and the installation of the geothermal heat exchangers inside the borehole, making the operator's work easier and safer.

With a view to greater safety for the operator, the MC 14 GT is supplied with the Comacchio radio control system, which allows remote management of all the machine's functions.

A 142kW (190hp) motor powers the MC 14 GT which features a mast feed of 3500mm and a feed force of 6500daN. The retraction force is 12,000ldaN, while the rotary torque ranges from 950daNm to 2900daNm.
