Corescan Powered by Epiroc, a productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has announced the expansion of its advanced geotechnical offerings. Building upon years of imaging technology, Corescan Powered by Epiroc now provides a comprehensive suite of automated geotechnical reports and answer products that can improve core logging efficiency and consistency. With this expanded offering, mining professionals will be able to make more informed decisions so their projects can be optimised.

The integration of Corescan Powered by Epiroc's measurements, software solutions, and geoscience expertise with the Hyperspectral Core Imager (HCI) 4.2 drill core scanning systems results in automated geotechnical answer products that deliver rapid, precise, and consistent data.

"Our enhanced geotechnical offerings will take logging and analysis to unprecedented levels. They underscore Corescan Powered by Epiroc's commitment to providing innovative solutions that allow our clients to safely realise the full potential of their resources and projects," Epiroc geoscience general manager, Brenton Armitage, said.

"By leveraging advanced automation and integration technologies, we are enabling geotechnical engineers to elevate their models and analyses, leading to safer and more efficient operations," Jonathan Hill, geotechnical manager at Corescan Powered by Epiroc, added.

Advanced integration for unmatched insight

Mining professionals need an in-depth and highly detailed understanding of rock mass as well as the properties of defects. Trying to make these measurements introduces inconsistency and is often impractical. Corescan Powered by Epiroc has developed systems that integrate automated geotechnical products with mineralogical image processing outputs from the HCI 4.2's high-resolution spectrometers.

The result is a comprehensive dataset that can improve the accuracy and reliability of geotechnical models. Mining professionals can now access detailed insights into mineralogy, rock structure, and defect characterisation more quickly and easily. This makes decision-making more proactive and allows for improved strategies to extract resources.

Comprehensive and reliable measurements

Corescan Powered Epiroc's suite of measurements provides geotechnical engineers with the information and confidence they need for better models and analyses. All core measurements are carefully calibrated and can be audited. Methodologies are fully described to ensure the data is understandable, replicable, precise, and consistent.
