The latest addition to the company's fleet is the MP4004, a piling rig designed and built by the Martello Group. Fitted with a Tier 4 final engine, the MP4004 delivers 125kW which enables the machine to construct piles of up to 1,050mm diameter, to 40m in just 3.5m of headroom.
The purpose-built MP4004 is the latest in the MP4000 Series and follows the company philosophy of producing rigs with a compact design, low tail-swing radius and small footprint, while still offering larger outputs than most mainstream machines of a similar size.
"The increase in demand for restricted access works is what encouraged our decision to fabricate the MP4004, without it we wouldn't have been able to deliver all of the contracts secured this year," said Paul Gwynne, managing director at Martello Piling, talking about how the new rig will be put to use work in low headroom and restricted access areas, such as under bridges and in sensitive surroundings; listed buildings and nuclear/chemical facilities, etc.
